Archaeological Survey in the Region of El Gol (District Berber, Sudan)

This pilotproject investigates the region of El Gol, near the 5th Nile Cataract. Doing an archaeological survey on both banks of the Nile, we will identify sites which are invisible in satellite images, like rock art. On the other hand we will check the large tumulus fields, which are visible in Google Earth. These tumulus fields may be multiphase. The data archieved with this pilotproject and the data collected with careful analysis of the satellite images will be the basis for a follow-up application.
