The aim of the project is the development and application of magnetic measurement procedures based on magnetorelaxometry (MRX) and magnetic particle spectroscopy (MPS), and magnetic particle imaging (MPI), that will enable to describe quantitatively the particle matrix interaction, in particular in the presence of additional magnetic fields and in flowing media. We will focus primarily on physically well-defined magnetic hybrid materials in order to relate the measured magnetic parameters to the relevant interaction parameters. These hybrid materials shall serve as models to describe the particle Matrix interaction in the far more complex biomedical application settings such as hyperthermia, magnetic thermoablation, contrast agent in imaging (MRI, MPI), magnetic drug targeting or magnetofection using magnetic nanoparticles. In the final stage, the developed magnetic measurement procedures shall enable the assessment of the interaction of magnetic nanoparticles with their biological matrix in the above mentionedin-vivo applications.
