In the just completed , by Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft funded project System Analysis and Design of an All-Purpose Synthetical Three-Phase Voltage Source Based on the Modular Multilevel Converter for the Generation of High-Precision and High-Dynamic Voltage Waveforms, a concept for a synthetical 3ph voltage source has been elaborated and a prototype has been built up. Fulfilling the requirements of a synthetical 3ph voltage source, the from Modular Multilevel Converters well-known control concepts have been Extended. The proper function of the 3ph voltage source prototype has been proven by a simulated voltage dip.Further, follow-up funding by DFG is requested in order to investigate the full dynamic performance of the complete control and hardware system. The synthetic 3ph voltage source shall be used in a Power-Hardware-in-the-Loop Emulation System, forming the currents of a simulated converter fed synchronous motor with a pulse frequency of several kHz and a power of 50 kW.
