Guest stay of Prof. Ashutosh Ghosh in the Group of Prof. Janiak as part of an DFG-INSA exchange visit to intensify contacts of Indian scientists with Germany (INSA = Indian National Science Academy).The objective of the visit of Prof. Ghosh (Univ. Calcutta) is to have scientific discussions and to intensify the collaborations between Prof. Ashutosh Ghosh and Prof. Christoph Janiak on the use of X-ray crystallographic techniques for the analyses of weak interactions in metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) and coordination polymers. Professor Janiak is also active in the field of metal nanoparticles and their uses as catalysts. Recently, The University of Calcutta established a state-of-art centre for the research in nano-science. Prof. Ghosh would like to learn some techniques from the laboratory of Prof. Janiak and also to plan collaborative research in the field of nano-science.
