The book as subject of text and design, space of communication and action shall be taken in account under a multiperspective and mulitdisciplinaire aproach. Espacially new media and material will be of importance. A point of interest will be the interaction and interrelation of the diverse item, such as given with the term of "artist's books". Under the influence of new media and electronic publication the interrelation of content and materiality will show consequences. They concerne as well the production as the reception. The network intends to bring together researchers, designers and publishers - persons who are involved in the book as a space of communication, art and design. They all are aware of the new development related to new media. The scientific exchange shall take in aacount all the possibilities offered by the book as material construct as well as with its amaterialised functions. Since the perspective on the book is different in each discipline and therefore the its totality is seldom taken in account, the interdisciplinaire exchange shall result in a new methodological approach. Included are methods of appropriation, the ways of productive and constructive handling, the interrelation of divers material and the digital and traditional form.
