The publication consists of a detailed introduction in which the problem of 'Incerta research' in connection with methodological issues will be discussed, and also of a thematic catalogue and various appendices. The catalogue is arranged by chapters according to musical genres (I Arias and songs, II Duets and solo cantatas, III Oratorical works and church music, IV Orchestral works, V Instrumental chamber music and VI Music for keyed instruments). Each composition is provided (in consultation with the editorial board bf the 'Hallische Händel-Ausgabe', HHA) with an abbreviation. The abbreviations refer to those which have already been announced in the 'Händel- Werke-Verzeichnis (HWV)' but not published in Appendix B ('Anhang B', in our catalogue listed as Anh. BOOr etc.).The individual entries on compositions attributed to Handel are listed in the following categories: Title of the composition (according to the source), incipits, composer (if possible), description of the sources (including the researched concordances), in some cases proof of the provenance of source, modern editions, literature regarding the composition to be described, at the end comments on the composition and its possible authenticity. As an appendix of the volume, the contents of a group of works by Handel preserved in the Bodmer collection in Geneva, which have so far hardly received any attention, were added. Various directories and indexes conclude the volume.In total, over 380 compositions were found in more than 370 public and private libraries and archives in Europe and North America bearing 'Handel' as the author's name. On the basis of our research, about one-fifth of compositions can be attributed to other contemporary composers. A few compositions were previously verified as unknown works by Handel, including the ¿Gloria in excelsis Deo¿ (HWV Anh. B 215), who attracted attention in the music world and has been recorded in about 10 CDs. For the most part of the Handel Incerta, no author could be detected. In our view, the purpose of this catalogue is to provide a tool for international research and the musical practice, which may lead to further discoveries.
