本研究は、(1)省略文における焦点要素の意味解釈と表示方法及び(2)省略文と非省略文の間において観察される対比を調査し、省略の有無が焦点要素の意味解釈や表示方法に与える影響の有無や程度を解明することを目指す。また、これらの研究成果に基づき、意味情報を音情報の関係を捉えることができる焦点理論がいかなるものであるか検討するとともに、焦点に関する言語間差を調査することで比較言語研究の進展に貢献できるよう努める。今年度は、昨年度の研究代表者が実施した英語のWhy-stripping構文に関する研究成果(Kimura (2021)）を踏まえ、日本語のWhy-stripping構文の調査を行った。まず、日本語のWhy-stripping構文において残余句となる焦点要素が、先行節内の表現の繰り返しの場合と先行節内の表現と同じものを指す言い換えの場合の間で観察される対比を中心に調査した。当該の対比に基づき、残余句となる焦点要素が正しく解釈されるためには、先行節と相同の構造を持つことが求められるという結論を導いた。また、Why-stripping構文の残余句は移動を受けない焦点要素であるという説（Kimura (2021))を支持する追加証拠を複数発見した。省略構文であるWhy-strippingの焦点要素は同義の非省略文において焦点要素が基底位置に残留する形で解釈を受けるという結論が妥当であることを確かめた。これらの研究成果は、国際学会であるthe 41st meeting of the West Coast Conference on Formal Linguisticsにて公表予定である。

This study includes: (1) the interpretation and expression method of the focus element of omitted text; and (2) the investigation of the comparison between omitted text and non-omitted text; the interpretation and expression method of the focus element of omitted text; and the interpretation and expression method of the influence of omitted text. The research results of this paper are based on the relationship between meaning information and phonological information. The focus theory of this paper is to investigate the difference between speech and phonological information. The contribution of this paper to the progress of comparative speech research is to explore the relationship between meaning information and phonological information.
