本研究は文理融合型研究として文献史学・考古学と科学的分析を通じて従来明らかにならなかった十五世紀の北海道の歴史を明らかにすることを目的とする。科学的分析としては一括出土銭を様々な手法を使って分析することを一つの柱としている。具体的には3D計測や成分分析を様々な手法で行うことを試みた。それによって道南地区における一括出土銭のより正確な時代の特定と、それによって和人の拠点が維持されていた時期を推定することが期待できる。本年度も道南で出土した涌元古銭と上雷古銭の科学的手法による分析を行った。XRF（蛍光X線分析計）は涌元古銭について測定が終了し、現在はそれを分析している最中である。科学的手法はまだ手探り状態である、というのが現状である。文献史学の方では従来北海道中世史の唯一と言って良いと言われてきた『新羅之記録』に頼らない史料分析を目指し、京都や関東の史料の中で北海道について触れられた史料の分析を中心にしている。今年度は昨年度末に提出した『新羅之記録』に現れた館主に関する検討が４月に刊行された。さらに『満済准后日記』の従来の解釈を批判した論考を提出したが、出版社の都合により現在刊行の目処は立っていない。また新しい史料を探すために『山科家礼記』の検討を開始した。また『看聞日記』についても詳細に検討する必要性を感じ、新たな刊本の検討を開始している。さらに関東と京都の争いの享徳の乱について検討を開始した。『蜷川家文書』や『南部家文書』の検討は引き続き継続中である。
