今年度はcovid-19の感染状況が落ち着いた際には図書館や資料館等での調査が可能になったことから、資料調査を中心に現地踏査も若干実施するとともに、国会図書館デジタルコレクションに収載の関連資料をダウンロードし、その他の資料と共に整理を進めた。具体的には、内陸および沿海部に所在した開墾助成地区の資料を収集することとし、本州では前者の例として高原に位置し開墾助成法成立後の早い時期に開墾助成地区となった大規模な開墾地である長野県南安曇郡小倉村外六ヶ村開墾組合（現、安曇野市）について長野県立歴史館と図書館において、台地に位置する福島県西白河郡関平村吉子川村滑津村連合耕地整理組合（現、中島町・泉崎村）、さらに内陸奥部に位置する同県南会津郡田島町田部原耕地整理組合（現、南会津町）も加えて、後者の例としては、同県相馬郡新沼浦干拓耕地整理組合（現、相馬市）等について福島県歴史資料館および県立図書館、関係自治体の役場、図書館（資料室）等において資料調査・収集を行った。長野県では明治初期の村絵図が一部は活用できそうであり、後者の干拓地の場合は開墾前後の地図（図面）を一部撮影したが、ともに関連する資料は必ずしも多くはなかった。また、九州では「開墾地移住奨励金交付認可通牒」「開墾地移住家屋建築奨励金交付認可申請」等の資料が残る現佐賀県白石町において旧福富村の集落から開墾助成地区への移住者の子孫の方に、来住者の出身地や祖父の代の状況など若干の聞き取りができた。大分県では公文書館で関連資料の収集を行うとともに荻柏原土地改良区事務所や竹田市役所荻支所等において若干の情報・資料収集を行うとともに改良区の現況を踏査した。以上のほか『耕地擴帳改良事業要覧』や『耕地整理及開墾助成事業要覧 昭和4年3月末現在』などのデータを整理するとともに必要な資料や関係県の『土地改良史』類などの関連書籍の収集を行った。
