本研究は，わが国が積極的に推進する企業の持続的成長および環境，社会，およびガバナンスに関する取り組みの促進に関する投資環境の整備に向けた科学的証拠を提示することを目的とする。ここでは，とくに持続的成長とESGに関する情報をどのように開示することが企業と投資者のエンゲージメントを促進するかという観点から，これらの情報に関する企業と投資者の双方の側の認知と理解を科学的に計測する。本研究のステップはつぎである。第一に，先行研究や研究代表者の業績によって被験者に提示する持続的成長とESGに関する情報項目と内容を選択する。第二に，企業と投資者はどのような項目がどのようなプロセスを経過して意思決定に役立つと判断しているかについて分析する。第三に，企業と投資者の双方の意思決定と相違を浮き彫りにすることによって，わが国の持続的成長とESG要素の情報開示に関する科学的証拠を提示して政策提言に結び付ける。令和3年度は，先行研究を渉猟することによって，被験者に提示する持続的成長とESGに関する情報項目と内容のデータベースを構築した。令和4年度は，第2のステップとして，被験者に提示する持続的成長とESGに関する情報項目と内容のデータベースを基礎として，企業と金融機関からの参加者を対象としたインタビュー，アンケート，およびコンピュータによる情報配信による計測調査をおこなった。そして被験者に企業の財務情報とサステイナビリティを含んだ非財務情報を呈示して当該企業の評価（投資の観点からの評価と健全性の観点からの評価）を実施してもらった結果をうけて，開示の内容と伝達手段の有効性，および企業と金融機関の双方の側の認知プロセスの相違の検証をおこなっている。
