鳥取市を中心とする鳥取県東部生活圏を対象に，居住者の生活の質を１）建物・サービス立地との関係，２）公園・緑地の存在，３）用途地域指定の違いの３点より評価した．１）については，鳥取市マスタープランで拠点とされる鳥取市内１３地域と鳥取県東部生活圏を形成する４町の合計１７地域を対象に，居住者の数・立地と，複数種類の建物・サービスの数・立地との関係を統計的に明らかにし，中心居住立地と建物の分布の関係を明らかにした．２）については，鳥取市中心居住地域を対象に，街区公園をはじめとする公園・緑地の存在が居住環境に与える影響を明らかにした．特に，これまでの研究で個別に扱われていた公園緑地を，公園緑地のネットワークの視点から捉え，公園緑地ネットワーク特性が住環境の代理指標である地価や居住者数に与える影響を調べた．その結果，媒介中心性というネットワーク指標が住環境と統計的に有意に関係しており，よって，これまでの「最寄りの公園までの距離」など個別の公園緑地の特性だけでなく，都市の公園緑地の全体的な立地状況が居住環境に影響をあたえることが明らかとなった．３）では，都市のコンパクト化のために居住者が集中すべきである市街化区域について，人口増加の抑制を主な目的とした地域地区性が，現在の人口減少下において居住者の変化にどのような影響をもたらしているかを明らかにした．より具体的には，鳥取市都市計画区域内の市街化区域の用途地域について，１０年間の用途地域別の人口変化を明らかにした．その結果，住居系・商業系で居住者が減少している一方で，工業系の用途地域で居住者が増えており，各用途地域が目指す居住と異なる方向にあることが明らかとなった．
