本研究の目的は、高校におけるトレーナー活用の促進・阻害要因を明らかにすることである。今年度は、4年計画の2年目に該当する。当初の計画では、今年度末から来年度にかけて調査を実施する予定であった。今年度は、春に研究協力者らと調査項目の検討を行った。その際「運動部活動等に関する実態調査報告書（スポーツ庁）」や「日本のトレーナー実態調査（日本スポーツ協会）」などを参考にした。それらを元に倫理審査の申請を行い、秋に承認された。その後、オンライン回答サイトの回答フォームの作成、郵送物の作成・送付に取り掛かった。すべてトラブルもなく進んだため、当初の計画より早い12月には調査の実施ができた。本調査は、全国の高校5007校に調査依頼を郵送し、それを部活動顧問に配布してもらい、部活動顧問がオンラインで回答する形式とした。7892人の部活動顧問から回答を得た。トレーナーを活用する理由として、怪我予防や応急処置、活用しない理由として、謝金が払えない、適任者がいないことが上位に挙げられた。その他に部活動顧問の背景（性、年齢、教員免許、教員歴、部活動歴、顧問歴、生活習慣など）、部活動の背景（部活動種、活動頻度など）、学校の背景（公立私立、生徒数、地域など）の情報も得た。単純集計したものは浜松医科大学健康社会医学講座のホームページで公表した。また結果の一部は日本部活動学会第6回大会でも発表した。今後、トレーナーを活用している部活動顧問としていない部活動顧問について、それら背景の違いを明らかにしていく。
