项目摘要

グローバル化に伴い、多くの国が高等教育の国際化に力を入れている。日本も例外ではなく、政府がEnglish-miedum instruction (EMI：講義で用いられる英語を指す）を奨励するなどして、留学生を積極的に受け入れている。しかし、彼らの言語実態についての学術研究はほとんどなく、特に日本語・英語のいずれも母語としない留学生の状況はあまり注視されていない。そこで、本研究は日本語と英語の言語環境で学ぶ留学生の言語実態とアイデンティティとの関連性を多角的かつ包括的に調査するものである。3年目の当該年度（2022年度）は、スペインのセルビアで11月7日から9日まで開催された15th International Conference of Education, Research and Innovationにオンラインで参加し、研究成果を発表した。また、同学会のプロシーディングス（Web of Science)に論文が掲載された。学会では前年度に行ったアンケートの分析結果を発表した。日本語能力と英語能力のレベルと言語選択・使用の関わりについて、中国人留学生と非中国人留学生を比較した。前者は比較的日本語レベルが高い学生が多く、日常生活やアカデミックな状況で日本語を選択・使用しており、一方で後者は英語レベルの高い学生が多く、英語を選択・使用していることが明らかになった。アンケートの量的分析では、申請書に記載した①留学生は母語・日本語・英語をどのように使い分けているのかに回答するものであるが、②彼らの言語使用は言語に対する認識とアイデンティティとどのような関りを持つのか、③状況によって変わる他者との関係性は、複数の概念(国家、言語、文化など)から形成される重層的アイデンティティにどのような変容をもたらしているのかの問いに回答するためにはインタビュー・データの分析が待たれる。2022年度は前年度に実施したインタビュー・データの分析を完了予定であったが、遅れており現在も継続して行っている。
