令和2年度（初年度）は、コロナ禍により、ケニアへの渡航ができず関係者との意見交換が困難であり、研究計画の立案が遅れている。特に、研究目的である「ケニア健康保険公社が2016年に導入した「周産期サービス無料化プログラム（Linda Mama Program）」において、出産数の変化と妊産婦死亡や新生児死亡などの健康指標や保険加入率のインパクト効果について検証を行うことにより、プログラムの持続可能性と発展性を考察する」ためには現地での基礎情報収集が重要であるが、実施は困難であった。そのため、本年度は計画されていた活動を遂行することができず、予算を消化することはなかった。なお、令和3年度は、オンラインによる会議を多用して、研究計画の完成、研究倫理審査の承認、ケニア国内のカウンターパートを通した研究実施を鋭意実行する予定である。
