Conjugated polymer nanoparticles are promising building blocks for functional materials. This project will tailor elliptical crystalline nanoparticles for soft assembly via their particle surfaces, and possibly further shapes. As a basis, we will seek to unravel the particle formation mechanism in the synthetic protocol developed, to understand the underlying principles of this route to anisotropic nanoparticles. Specifically, the nucleation of the internal particle structure is anticipated to bear potential, also to enable living polymerizations that can control polymer microstructure. ESR methods will be instrumental to elucidate these particle formation mechanisms.
