项目摘要

研究は近代美術館の展覧会と企画に関わった美術批評家の言説をひもとき、彫刻における抽象作品への評価と抽象概念への理解がいかに築かれていったか、1950年代を中心に検証するものである。令和4年は展覧会に関する調査研究と並行し、1950年代に作風を大きく変えた彫刻家、その制作について視野を広げ、彼らの戦前／戦後での変化、また作品に対する批評の変化を具体的に調査・検討することから研究全体の深化をめざした。抽象傾向では引き続き堀内正和について、加えて堀内と同じく戦後京都に移住し陶芸との出会いのなかで彫刻家へ変貌していった清水九兵衞について調査した。具象傾向では昨年に引き続き、戦後の具象彫刻を先導した新制作派協会（現新制作協会）について、特に佐藤忠良に焦点をあて、社会主義リアリズム、フェミニズムの観点から調査を行った。また表現方法（具象／抽象）を串刺しにする視点として、素材の問題を設定した。土の表現（塑造、陶彫刻）に注目した。国土を象徴する土という素材に戦前／戦後で投影された意味を批評家の言説および作家の表現事例から検討した。上記について論文にまとめ、外部で研究発表を行った。
