研究期間の延長が認められたたため、昨年度に引き続き、明末の文人凌濛初が編纂した短編白話小説集「二拍」こと『拍案驚奇』及び『二刻拍案驚奇』を研究対象とし、それらの具体的な編纂過程を明らかにすることを目的として研究を進めた。今年度は主に以下の二つの方向でアプローチした。ひとつは、2021年度末に『拍案驚奇』及び『二刻拍案驚奇』の編纂の意図、各作品の構成、作品から読み取れる凌濛初の思想を題材にしてまとめ、博士学位請求論文として提出した論文の見直しと課題の再検討である。これまで『拍案驚奇』及び『二刻拍案驚奇』、或いは凌濛初について検討してきた事柄について、同時代の他の文人等を考慮に入れてより俯瞰的な視点から『拍案驚奇』『二刻拍案驚奇』について検討することを念頭に、調査を進めた。もうひとつは、『拍案驚奇』及び『二刻拍案驚奇』を編む際に凌濛初が資料として用いたと思われる書籍についての検討である。凌濛初が『拍案驚奇』及び『二刻拍案驚奇』を編纂した際にどのような書物を資料、材料に用いたのかという具体的な状況の解明を目指し、いくつかの作品を検討した。今年度は『元曲選』との関連が指摘される作品群、及び複数の可能性が指摘されながら十分に整理されているとは言い難い『二刻拍案驚奇』巻三十を取り上げ、それぞれ関連するテキストの比較を行い、論文にまとめた。なお、これらの作業について時代や国を跨いで様々な事例と比較する中で、横山光輝の漫画『水滸伝』の成立過程や影響を与えた先行作品との関係について一定の知見が得られたため、こちらも論文にまとめた。そのほか、『拍案驚奇』及び『二刻拍案驚奇』の編纂過程について、先行研究を再検討し、十分に明らかになっていない点について、調査を進めている。
