项目摘要

2022年度はコロナ禍による制限も緩和されたため、ロンドン、台北で史料調査を実施し、それぞれの成果をシンポジウム等で報告した。ロンドン調査（2022年8月）ではイギリス国立公文書館にて、①本研究の主要な研究対象であるスルタンベク・バフティヤール、テヴフィク・シェリフら第1次東トルキスタン共和国（1933-1934）関係者の足取り、②コロナ禍の中で本研究に関連して取り組んだ新疆軍事派遣団(1918-1921)の補足的史料、③戦間期日本のアフガニスタン、トルコなどで展開したテュルク系ムスリムへのアプローチなどについての文書史料を収集した。このうち①のバフティヤールについて、同時期に入手したインド国立文書館史料にも基づき、スイスの国際シンポジウムで報告した。報告では英領インド当局がバフティヤールを要注意人物として警戒していたことを指摘したが、ナチス・ドイツとも接点を持った可能性という新たな検討課題が生じたことにも触れた。なお、このシンポジウムの機会を利用して、メルトハン・デュンダル氏（アンカラ大学）と研究協力に関して打ち合わせもした。台北調査（2022年11月）では上記②の新疆軍事派遣団に関する中国語史料の収集を目的とした。とりわけ、タルバガタイ駐在の田島が地誌の作成を企図し、近隣の県知事に送った質問票を確認できた。その内容の主に民政に関連するが、このことは、軍事派遣団がロシア内戦の情報収集に加えて、新疆に対しても政治的野心があったことを示唆する。これらの研究成果は2023年2月の講演会報告にも盛り込んだ。また、2023年3月に再びイギリス国立公文書館を訪れ、上記③の文書史料をさらに収集したことに加え、1930年代に東京で発行されていたタタール語雑誌『新日本通報 Yana Yapon Moxbire』の総目録を作成した。
