本年度（2022年度）は、①これまでの研究成果のまとめ②学会における研究報告③海外における調査活動が主な研究活動であった。①これまでの研究成果のまとめとしては、2023年2月『関東学院大学人文科学研究所報』において「1830年代のロシア外交におけるコミットメント問題」を発表した。コミットメント問題とは、国家の行動に関して自らを拘束する国際的約束の実現性に対する信頼度のことであり、とりわけ1830年代のロシア外交は、イギリスとの関係やオスマン帝国の関係において、相手国の意図や能力を完全に信用できる状況になかった。特にロシアがイギリスの対仏抑止コミットメントをどのように引き出していたのかを論じることによって、当時のヨーロッパ国際秩序の維持メカニズムの一端を明らかにしようとした。②10月末に開催された「日本国際政治学会仙台大会」で、「ウィーン体制におけるロシアの軍事介入」という表題で、ペーパー執筆と口頭報告を行った。帝政期と現代のロシア外交における連続性に対する関心に基づき、ロシア人外交官や軍人らが残した刊行史料集などを用いて、1815-1853年におけるロシアの軍事介入の論理やその原則の解明を試みた。分析の結果、ウィーン体制期のロシア帝国は、被介入国の主権者の要請や国際会議を通じた他の大国の同意あるいは黙認を受けて軍事介入に踏み切っていた。特に皇帝ニコライ一世は、被介入国の主権者である君主の自由意思を重視しており、それを制約しようとする行為に対しては激しく反発を示していた。③海外渡航制限の緩和を受けて、2023年2月末から2週間、イギリスの国立公文書館（ロンドン）で史料調査を実施し、主に1820年代後半から1830年代のイギリスの外交文書を入手した。駐露大使館・駐オーストリア大使館・駐仏大使館の書簡に加えて、イタリア諸国に駐在する外交官の史料も入手した。
