本研究の目的は、生物教育における児童・生徒のシステム思考を中心とした推論能力の育成に向けた具体的な指導方法、授業展開、教材開発を考案し、学校現場における実証的な分析を通して、その有効性を確かめることにある。2020年度は、諸外国におけるシステム思考に関する先行研究から得られた知見により、我が国においてもシステム思考に関する認識調査をデザインし、その後実際に、ある高校での調査をすることができた。2021年度は、2020年度で実施した調査で得られた結果をまとめ、研究論文としての執筆を進めた。また、試行的調査ではあったが、児童・生徒のシステム思考を中心とした推論能力の育成に向けた具体的な指導方法、授業展開、授業開発の案を提案し、実証的なデータをとることができた。しかし、その調査はオンラインで行ったことや小学生には概念的に難しかったこともあり、研究としての課題も浮き彫りとなった。2022年度は、2021年度で執筆を進めていた研究論文計2本を投稿段階にもっていくことができた。そのうち1本の研究論文は、ある全国誌への掲載がされる予定である。また、2022年度は、ある中学校2校において、新規の研究実践を行うことができた。その新規の研究実践は、中学生におけるシステム思考の育成を目指して、主に生態学領域においての指導方法、授業展開、教材開発をデザインし、その効果を調査するものとなった。2023年度は、この新規の研究実践において得られたデータを分析、解釈し、研究論文としてまとめられるよう執筆に尽力するとともに、投稿した残りの1本の研究論文の掲載を目指していく。
