本研究は，幼児期の間接的要求場面の理解における身振りの役割を検討することである。例えば，外遊びに出かけようとしている幼児に対して「帽子をかぶってから出てください」ということを発話で明示的に伝達するのではなく，「お外に行く前に，忘れていることはないかな？」と間接的に帽子をかぶることを促す場面を提示し，その際，発話のみで伝える条件と発話と身振りで伝える条件を設定した。また，間接的要求の理解において身振り情報を手がかりにできるかどうかという点に対して，幼児の社会性が関連しているかを検討する。本年度は，学会発表ならびに成果発表児の意見交換を通しての課題の再検討を行った。本研究で得られている成果は，発話に身振りが付随することで間接的要求の理解が促進されることであった。一方，発話と身振りを提示する「身振りあり条件」の課題得点は，幼児の社会性（理解言語，表出言語，対子ども社会性，対成人社会性）と月齢を統制して相関分析を行ったところ，有意な関連がみられなかった。以上の成果に対して，焦点を当てた身振りが絵本で提示していたことから，動的な軌跡で表現を行う身振りの側面を検討できていないこと，間接的要求場面におけるコーディングに解釈の余地が残されていること，対象者の社会性を測定するうえで用いた尺度の妥当性に関する意見交換を行った。これらの検討事項をもとに，課題の手続きや材料の見直し，新たに作成する必要のある刺激についての検討を行った。
