全国のDPCデータを用いて、心臓リハビリテーションの我が国における普及状況に関する疫学的調査研究を実施し、論文発表を行った。本研究の目的は、日本における心臓リハビリテーション（以下、心リハ）の普及の実態、および実施に関連する要因を明らかにすることである。2010年度から2017年度までのデータを用い、心血管疾患（CVD）、すなわち急性心筋梗塞、心不全、末梢血管疾患の傷病名で入院した患者、および心臓血管外科術を受けた患者2,046,302人（1,632病院）を対象に調査を実施した。調査対象となった病院のうち、心リハを提供した病院の割合は、2010年の31.6％から2017年には56.6％に増加し、対象患者の入院心リハへの参加率は18.3％から39.0％に増加した。一方、外来心リハへの参加率は2010年度1.4％から2017年度2.5％と低水準にとどまった。入院心リハ参加者の約95％が退院後の外来心リハを継続していなかった。また、心リハへの参加率は、疾患群によって大きく同行が異なっていた。急性心筋梗塞患者や心血管外科術後の患者では、参加率が大きく増加したのに対し、狭心症や末梢血管疾患患者では低値のまま推移していた。本研究結果から、日本においては2010年から2017年にかけて心リハを提供する病院が増加し、CVD患者における入院心リハ参加率が上昇した一方で、外来心リハの参加率は極めて低く、十分に活用されていない状態が続いていることが明らかとなった。また、疾患によって普及動向が異なっており、CVDの二次予防推進のためにはそれぞれの状況を踏まえた施策が必要であることが示唆された。
