本研究は、言語コミュニケーションにおける意図伝達のメカニズムを、間接的発話を材料とした神経言語学的実験によって考察する。初年度は、コロナ禍により新しい実験を実施することが難しかったため、既存の脳波データに再解析を施し、日本語文理解における視点取得に伴う神経活動と実験参加者の自閉的傾向との関わりを解析した。頭皮上の電圧分布を元に発生源推定を行い、さらに異なる脳領域の活動について相関関係と因果関係を分析した。分析の結果、右前頭島皮質と楔前部とのベータ帯域における神経活動の因果的関係において性差と視点取得の効果を確認した。研究成果は、2021 Organization for Human Brain Mapping Annual Meetingで発表した。但し、実験参加者の自閉的傾向と神経活動との間に強い相関・因果関係は見つかっておらず、解析を続行中である。
