项目摘要

主にアメリカ英語をモデルとした英語教育を受けてきた日本人英語学習者が、昨今の多様な英語による音声コミュニケーションにどう対応するか。初級学習者だけでなく、英語上級者も、現実の英語コミュニケーションにおいて、多様な英語への対応は必須である。本年は、まず一般的な日本語英語学習者の英語音声の特性を改めて検証し、そのうえで、香港英語(HKE)、インド英語(INE)、ナイジェリア英語(NGE)、シンガポール英語(SGE)の音声特徴を、文献を元に調査した。一口にHKE、INE、NGE、SGEといっても、現地で話されている言語は一つではなく、話者により英語の音声特徴はかなり異なる。また、日本語訛の英語と共通する文節音や韻律に特徴が多々見られる。以下に、日本語話者にとって難しいと思われる特徴をあげる。母音では、(1) Tense-laxの対立の欠如 (HKE, NGE, SGE)、(2) 母音の長さの対立の欠如 (INE, SGE,)、(3) 二重母音の単母音化及び、三重母音の二重母音化・単母音化 (HKE, INE, NGE, SGE) 、(4) 母音の弱化の欠如、等。子音では、(a) 有声・無声歯間摩擦音の他の子音での代用、(b) 歯茎破裂音/t/, /d/の調音の変化(INE)、(c) 歯茎音 /t/, /d/, /l/, /n/ のそり舌音化 (INE)、(d) 有声・無声の対立の消滅 (SGE)、(e) /r/の調音の変化、(f) /z/ や歯茎破擦音の自由変異化 (INE)など。韻律では、音節リズムが圧倒的に多く、それに伴い母音の弱化の欠如がある(IDE, NGE, SGE)。これは発話リズムと強く関連するが、語強勢の位置や強勢の対比の有無などと共に、発話の理解を難しくさせる要因となっている。これらを元に、単語と自由発話を元にした、知覚実験を行う予定である。
