妊娠中の喫煙は、前期破水、常位胎盤早期剥離、死産・流産・早産などのリスクを上げることが報告されている。また、妊娠中の受動喫煙は、妊娠高血圧腎症、胎児先天性奇形、死産、児の出生時体重の減少などのリスクを上げることが報告されており、妊娠中の喫煙・受動喫煙は、母児の両方に悪い影響を与える。モンゴル国では、妊婦の約1割が喫煙をしている可能性があり、また、4割以上の妊婦が受動喫煙をしていることが報告されているが、妊娠中の喫煙・受動喫煙がどれぐらい妊娠経過や出産、または胎児の発育に影響を与えているかは明らかになっていない。本研究は、モンゴル国ダルハンオール県の妊婦を対象に、妊娠中（初期・中期・後期）の喫煙・受動喫煙状況が、妊娠経過や児の出生時体重などの周産期アウトカムにどのような影響を与えているかを明らかにすることを目的とした研究である。2019年10月～2020年9月までの期間に妊娠初期の妊婦約500名をリクルートし、その日のうちに妊娠初期の調査を実施した。自記式質問紙調査と呼気中一酸化炭素濃度の測定、尿検体の採取を行いデータを収集した。追跡調査は、妊娠中期、妊娠後期に自記式質問紙調査と尿検体の採取を行いデータを収集した。分娩時の情報は、産後に病院の診療録より収集した。本研究によって得られる結果は、モンゴル国ダルハンオール県保健局の担当部署に報告し、今後の喫煙・受動喫煙対策を考える上での基礎データとしてもらう予定である。また、ダルハンオール県内の医療者に対しても結果を報告し、妊婦やその家族に対して行う保健指導に役立ててもらう予定である。
