出土建築部材の調査は、出土位置を特定できたものを中心に、群馬県埋蔵文化財調査事業団から提供いただいた部材の3Dデータを用いて、これを倒壊状態から建て起こし、パソコン上で部材同士を組み合わせるシミュレーションをおこなった。そうした机上での予測をもって、長野原町の収蔵庫の整理されている部材を引き出し、実際に組み合わせる作業をおこなった。これができれば、部材の3Dデータから復元図を描けるとの見通しであったが、実際は難しかった。それは、実物をみると容易に判断がつく材の痕跡も、3Dデータや写真ではわかりづらいため、シミュレーションが難しかったことが要因の一つである。実際に部材を並べて観察するほうが効率的であり、折れた材の接続を確認することもできた。ただし、その作業のためには、重い部材を破損させないよう引き出し、広いスペースに並べるという労力が必要で、収蔵庫内での作業はかなり困難を伴うという現実を突きつけられた。これとは別に、収蔵庫内の部材の所在と状態を確認して基礎データを作成する作業は、今年度も継続し、東宮遺跡や西宮遺跡などから出土した部材など、収蔵庫に収蔵されている建築部材（木材）の基礎データを得た。民家調査は、東大・横国大でのべ12回の調査をおこなった。悉皆調査は東吾妻町を対象とし、主屋・土蔵・付属屋等計748棟を調査し、詳細調査候補物件の選定をおこなった。悉皆調査は、これまで３ヶ年で４町村（長野原町・嬬恋村・草津町・東吾妻町）の調査を完了し、合計2428棟（このうち主屋1271棟、土蔵966棟）を調査した。また、長野原町で２件、東吾妻町で１件の詳細調査をおこなった。主屋を概観すると、規模の大きなものも多く、建立年代はおよそ近代に降り、屋根や建具にその後の改修が顕著なものの、予想以上に伝統形式を引き継いでいる物件が遺存している実態が明らかになった。
