本研究の目的は、代表性の高いデータセットを用いて、現代日本人の間に潜在する社会意識の分断をデータ内在的に解明するとともに、それと人々の政治行動の対応関係を経験的に明らかにすることである。2021年度は2020年度に実施したweb調査（N=6600）の統計分析を行い、以下の2つの知見が得られた。第一に、社会意識項目に対する回答を分析し、現代日本におけるイデオロギー上の政治的対立軸を抽出したところ、平和主義や天皇制についての評価などに関わる従来的な保革対立軸に加え、社会的投資や普遍主義といった、いわば、「福祉国家の変容」に関わる新たな政治的対立軸も抽出された。そして、回答者の支持政党については従来的な保革対立軸に規定されているものの、彼／彼女たちが選好する政策については、従来的な保革対立軸だけでなく、「福祉国家の変容」についての新たな対立軸も考慮しなければ説明できないことも明らかになった。第二に、過去の社会運動についての意識について社会経済的地位による大きな分断があるとともに、その意識のありかたが市民参加に影響を与えていることも明らかになった。具体的には、（ⅰ）女性よりも男性が、若年層よりも高学歴層が、低学歴層よりも高学歴層が過去に行われた社会運動（1960年安保闘争、全共闘、2015年安保抗議行動）を高く評価しているとともに、（ⅱ）社会経済的地位や政治的イデオロギーを統制したとしても、過去の社会運動を低く評価している人ほど市民参加しにくい、ということがデータ分析の結果として明らかになった。社会運動などの制度外政治参加の評価について市民間で大きな分断があるとともに、その分断が実際の市民参加のありようにも影響を与えていることをこの結果は示している。

The purpose of this study is to clarify the relationship between social consciousness and political action in modern Japan. The statistical analysis of the web survey conducted in 2021 and 2020 (N=6600) was carried out, and the following two findings were obtained.
