项目摘要

当初、最終年度は「南都の特殊性」の問題に取り組むことを目標として掲げていた。しかしながら、コロナ禍の影響により寺社調査を行いにくく、寺社の収書や蔵書開示、ならびに神職・神道家らの交流の実態を解明しづらい状況にあった。そこで、研究テーマを横への広がりから縦の繋がりに軌道修正し、以下のような研究を行った。【１】近世前期以前の由緒の検討従来中心的に取り扱ってきた近世中期に先行する時代の石上神宮の由緒を批判的に検討し、実際には奥書通りの成立ではなく、近世中葉に、ある由緒を創作する上での典拠資料とするために偽作・改作されている例（『石上布留神宮要録』）があることを明らかにした。一方、社家の記録などから、近世前期以前に遡るであろう説も見出した。以上のように、近世前期以前に遡るとされていた諸説を検討し、近世中葉に至るまでの石上神宮由緒の変遷について考察した。この研究成果は「今出河一友による石上神宮神宮寺伝来の縁起の改変―『石上布留神宮要録』を中心に―」（『ビブリア』158、天理大学附属天理図書館、2022.10）として公開した。【２】近世と近代の由緒語りの比較明治初頭に率川神社が春日社摂社から大神神社摂社へと公的に切り替わる際の動きに注目した。この時、大神神社宮司渡邊玄包によって作られ、内務省へ提出された由緒書『率川神社考証』においては、近世に作り出された「あるべき古代像」が継承され、かつ、近世同様、国史・家牒を繋ぎ合わせ、正当な由緒を紡ごうとしていることが認められた。近世と近代の比較においては差異が注目されがちだが、近世から近代への過渡期の共通性を丁寧に見ていくことで、その連続性を提示することができた。以上の研究成果は「今出河一友の由緒制作と近代における率川神社の由緒語り」（伊藤聡・斎藤英喜編『神道の近代　アクチュアリティを問う』（『アジア遊学』281）、勉誠出版、2023.3）としてまとめた。
