1910年代日本において新カント派の哲学がいかにして受容されたのかを、京都学派の西田幾多郎、田辺元と経済哲学者左右田喜一郎に即して分析し、研究発表を行った。西田は朝永三十郎、桑木厳翼らと顧問を務めた『哲学叢書』（1915年発刊）で新カント派哲学の啓蒙的紹介を精力的に行ったが、その関心は新カント派にとどまるものではなかった。これには、西田自身の資質や哲学的傾向が新カント派哲学に収まりきらないものであったことが一因としてある。また、西田は明治期の啓蒙主義が自由民権運動の挫折を経てロマン主義へと展開する思想史的状況に置かれていた。それゆえ、学術活動をはじめる以前から近代的自我の分裂という苦悩を背負っていたことも背景にあると思われる。田辺も、西田に沿いつつ、「生の哲学」や非合理性の探求のために新カント派からベルクソンへと研究の軸足を移していった。新カント派を解釈した二論文（1913、1914）からは、田辺が西田の影響のもと、すでにベルクソンの「意識の直接所与」や「純粋持続」の概念を高く評価し、新カント派解釈と接続させようと苦闘していることが分かる。その後、1918年に左右田との間で交わされた相互批判が契機となり、田辺はリッケルトに対して批判的立場を取った。「認識主観の問題」（1919-21）では、リッケルトと比較してラスクを評価し、「文化の概念」（1922）でリッケルト批判はさらに厳しいものとなる。これが、左右田の提唱した文化主義とその日本における展開に対するものであるかはさらに検証が必要だが、リッケルト解釈をもとに田辺と左右田の立場が分岐していったことは十分推測できる。また、研究発表を介した意見交換から、ヘルマン・コーヘンの訳述をめぐる「藤岡蔵六事件」と和辻のその後の思想展開をも射程に入れることで、新カント派受容の重層的な分析が可能になるという知見を得た。

After 1918, the two sides exchanged views on the issue of mutual criticism. "Understanding the problem of sovereignty"(1919-21),"Cultural concept"(1922),"Comparison and criticism"(1923 - 1924). This is the first time that we have seen such a thing. In addition, after the exchange of views on the research report and the discussion of the "Fujioka Zairoku Incident" and the subsequent thought development of Kazuji, we have gained insights into the possibility of a high-level analysis of the contents of the new conference.
