本研究プロジェクト・メンバーの研究会をオンラインでおこない、研究代表者の長田が自身の調査・考察結果を報告した。特に、ナラティブ・メディスンについて調査した結果を報告するとともに、そこで扱われている複数の対立軸について、メカニズム説からのとらえなおしを提案して、研究分担者や研究協力者と議論した。そうした議論の結果も含め、医療における質的研究一般をメカニズム説からとらえる、という課題の研究成果については、第41回日本医学哲学・倫理学会大会において、研究代表者の長田が「医療の質的研究に対するメカニズム説からの科学哲学的考察」と題して発表した。これは、通常はメカニズム概念による理解がふさわしいと考えられていないような研究領域についても、メカニズム概念による理解が可能であることを示す発表であった。とりわけ、「メカニズム・スケッチ」や「はかないメカニズム」といった概念を用いることによって、それが可能であることを示そうとしている。その際、感情の哲学の知見も生かすことで、従来には現象学の伝統のもとで理解されてきた医療実践についても、科学哲学・分析哲学の枠組みで理解できるように試みている。加えて、医療における基礎研究の役割についてもメカニズム説からの考察を進めている。特に、基礎研究の証拠の臨床への「外挿」の問題について、メカニズム説の立場から検討している。以上を総合することで、基礎医学、臨床医学、社会医学、看護学という医療のさまざまな分野における研究を、メカニズム解明という観点から統合的に理解しようとしている。
