昨年度までに得られた成果を踏まえ、研究目的に沿って「嶺南心学」の特色に関する考察をさらに深めることができた。その具体的な内容としては、陳献章、湛若水を中心とする嶺南の心学者たちの明代思想史上の位置付けの再検証、陽明後学の思想家と湛若水との思想的交流関係の分析を通して得られた知見を総合的に考察した結果、晩年の湛若水の思想活動においては、師説（白沙学）の喧伝と自説（「随処体認天理」）の墨守といった「守り」の姿勢が顕著で、独自の心学思想の深化や学説の発展はほとんど見られないことが明らかとなった。ただ、その一方で、王守仁逝去後に約三十年も講学活動に従事することができた湛若水は、門人の総数、勢力においては一世を風靡するものがあったのは事実である。そのような事実関係を精細に整理・分析することにより、「（仮題）明代における嶺南心学流行の背景――王守仁逝去後の湛若水と陽明後学――」を執筆して学術誌に掲載予定であったが、提出の直前に先行研究の見落としに気づいたため、一旦取り下げて再投稿に向け現在改稿作業を行っている。また、湛若水の思想活動と明嘉靖年間以降の書院の興隆との関係についても、新たな知見が得られた。その一部は、「韓夢鵬『新安理学先覚会言』訳注 其の三」の中で関連資料の訳注として発表したが、それ以外の内容についても論文で発表する見通しが立った。なお、本研究計画の実施によってこれまでに得られた成果の一部は、2023年2月に刊行した『明代儒教思想の研究―陽明学・科挙・書院』の中で公開した。
