项目摘要

令和4年度は主に手持ちの資料や公開されている画像を用いて研究を進めた。オックスフォード大学ボドリアン図書館には17世紀作とされる絵巻「浦しま」が所蔵され画像が公開されている。分析の結果、オックスフォード大学ボドリアン図書館本「浦しま」（以下、オックスフォード本）は、室町期に制作された狩野派絵巻に由来する表現が多数みられ、狩野派絵巻の受容を示す一例であることが判明した。特徴を述べると、人物は面長の顔にやや背の高い等身バランスを持ち、狩野光信、孝信世代のものを彷彿とさせる。樹木の表現は、やまと絵に由来する画風のもの、漢画に由来する画風のものが混在する。特筆されるのが岩、皴の表現である。初期狩野派の絵巻では、険しい山中を描く際、漢画の技法（斧劈皴などの墨線主体の表現）に著彩を組み合わせるが、これに由来する表現がオックスフォード本の山岳風景、岩等に頻出する。その他、海や池などの水面に群青を用い、金雲や岩等に金泥を用いる点も注目される。オックスフォード本第一段・浦島が亀を助ける場面は、サントリー美術館本「酒伝童子絵巻」上巻第三段に描かれる住吉神社の風景を踏まえたかのような彩色バランスや遠近の画面構成が見られ、いわゆる奈良絵本・絵巻の諸作とは一線を画す。中景を欠如させたまま遠景と近景を組み合わせ、両者の物理的な距離を表す際の境界として霞を用いる点、直線的に描かれるすやり霞の形状やその輪郭の取り方も狩野派絵巻の諸作と通じる。なお一部の霞はゆがんだ形状を見せるが、これは千葉県鏡忍寺所蔵「日蓮聖人註画讃」のような狩野派絵巻の表現を踏まえた作例と近似する。令和３年度の研究実績報告にて指摘した、狩野派絵巻の特徴が17世紀絵巻を成立させるひとつの典型的な作風として存在していたことを、オックスフォード本「浦しま」の分析を通じて確認でき、仮説をさらに補強することとなった。
