项目摘要

江戸時代の「読本（よみほん）」というジャンルの中で、刊行数から見てその最盛期と思われる文化５年（1808）、同６年に刊行されたものについて、素材、構成、記述、出版の面から網羅的に精査することによって、この時期の読本が何を目指していたのか、何が評価されていたのかを明らかにすることを目的としている。３年目となる令和４年度もこの目的にそって調査・研究を行ってきた。コロナ禍によって、調査旅行は制限されているものの、インターネット上で画像公開をされている資料や複写物を取り寄せた資料によって、計画を進めた。研究会は、2022年9月12日（月）（オンライン）と2023年3月28日（火）（対面）の２回を開催した。研究会では、各担当の読本作品の解題を発表しあい、質疑応答によって考察を深め、また情報を共有した。解題発表のあった作品は、読本年表に反映させている。調査によって、これまで刊行年とされていたものに誤りがあることがわかり、これも読本年表に反映させている。当初、文化５年刊、同６年刊の読本に絞って調査・考察の対象としていたが、調査の結果、読本に該当しない作品や、それ以前に刊行された作品の改題本であったことが判明したものもあり、調査対象を文化７年、また８年のものも含めることとした。当該年度は、文化５年から８年刊の読本の中で、未調査のもの（コロナ禍によって調査が不可能だったものを含む）を確認し、最終年度での調査を計画した。最終年度に向け、研究全体のまとめに入り、各自、見出した課題をさらに考察すべく、話しあった。この結果は、報告書の前半部の総説で論述する予定である。報告書は、総説、作品解題、年表で構成することを決定した。
