项目摘要

研究3年目である令和4年度は前年度に引き続き、〈環境児童文学〉の特性を明らかにし、この分野の読書が子ども読者にもたらす環境意識の構築・変化こそが、歯止めのかからない地球環境悪化に対する根本的な問題解決策となり得ることを検証する本研究の目的を見据え、地球環境問題と「人間と自然との絆」を描く子どものための本（児童文学・絵本）について、これまでに策定した論点を更に微修正・再編成しながら、作品の選定・収集・分析を進めた。分野別書誌分類の検討が進み、現時点での不足項目と未収集作品が明らかになった。国内出版物については、重要作品の機能分析が一部残るものの書誌分類項目のおおかたに目配りできた。一方英語圏出版物については、オンライン上での調査・収集の限界に至り、現地調査・研究資料収集の余地が残る状況が明らかになった。今年度の研究成果の一部として、英語圏児童文学会（研究大会）シンポジウムで、自然と乖離して暮らす都市生活者に、大自然に息づく命の躍動やウィルダネス（原生自然）のダイナミズムを写真絵本や小説を通じて伝える作品の文学的機能について発表を行った。〈環境児童文学〉研究の論点のひとつである、自然と人間とを繋ぐ際に媒介となるのが詩的想像力や物語の機能であることを、作品に照らした具体例から明示できた。自然と人間社会との中間領域に生き、自然と人間とを繋ぐ（繋ぎ直す）中間的人物の役割や、自然と乖離した現代社会に生きながらも、自然そのものや自らの内に息づく自然との共生を模索する登場人物たちの各事例も検証できた。国内出版物についての研究成果の一部は、国際児童文学学会（IRSCL）世界大会で発表することが決定した。その他調査収集した各作品分析を通じて、〈環境児童文学〉という一分野が実社会における環境問題改善の一翼を担いうる可能性を検証することができた。
