Origin of the get-passive through replication, involving English dialects and other Germanic languages

The research this year follows the research from last year, i.e. language contacts within the British Isles. This year, a focus is put on constructional and functional characteristics of the get-passive, and transitivity is extensively studied. This can be materialised in different themes, i.e. transitivity per se or adversity. Transitivity has been studied concerning the be-passive, but the get-passive has been overlooked in this respect and the research this year was useful for the further studies in this project.A new paper has been accepted for presentation concerning dialectal variations and the get-passive. This paper gives a new insight into the topic currently under investigation.
