小学校英語教育において、教員を目指す教職課程の学生の英語力・指導力の向上を目指した研究である。具体的には、教職科目担当教員が授業内容に実践練習を取り入れるように工夫することと、学生が授業外に自己研修を行うことを通じて、授業内容の習得を補完できるかどうかを、学生を対象とした英語力・指導力調査等を通して検証した。研究3年目となる今年度は、前年度の実験実施（自己研修等）を受けて改善した内容を本実践として実施した。学生対象の英語力・指導力調査（実験前後2回実施）、復習小テスト等の分析結果から、自己研修（発音練習）に英語力・指導力を向上させる一定の効果があることが分かった。また、学生は自己研修を通して、今後さらに学習が必要な英語力・指導力に関するスキル（教室英語の習得やオーラルスキルの向上等）にも自ら気付くきっかけになったようである。一方で、前年度はオンラインでの実施、今年度は対面での実施となり、前年度をパイロットとして位置づけ今年度を本実践とすることには条件の差があり無理があったと思われる。よって、来年度（最終年度）は実験内容を再検討して実施する必要がある。また、検証結果に基づき、「外国語に関する専門的事項」科目の効果的なシラバスおよび自己研修内容を提案することで適切な英語力、指導力を持った小学校教員の養成につなげたい。また、このような実践、検証を経たシラバス・自己研修内容の提案が学生の英語力、指導力の向上につながり、最終的には現場の指導者の資質向上、そして児童の英語学習の質の向上に貢献すると考える。
