第1の目的として、研究分担者が所属する東京大学総合研究博物館所蔵の古代アンデス織物についての調査を次続して実施した。これまでに作成された資料データの見直し、および製作技術の再確認を行った。昨年度までに、オープンワークに分類される技法の一部とチャンカイレースと呼ばれる技法の関連性について、さらに深く掘り下げて分析を行い、類似する資料が他館に所蔵されていることが分かっていた。調査を進めるうちに、奈良に所在する天理大学附属天理参考館同館には、他の東大博所蔵資料とほぼ同じ文様や技法をもつ資料や、非常に稀な技法で製作された房などがあり、比較検討する必要が生じた。そのため、詳細なデータ収集を行う目的で同館を訪れて資料調査を実施した。その結果、文様は類似するものの裏面の糸の処理が異なる等の細かな点に差異が見られた。同じに見える文様や房でも製作技術に多様性が見いだせる。第2の目的として、考古学的コンテクストをもたない博物館所蔵資料の放射性炭素年代測定の実施が挙げられる。資料の選定は、製作技法の再確認作業と並行して行い、なるべく遺跡名や文化名が判明している資料を対象に抽出した。その際、炭素・窒素安定同位体分析も考慮に入れて資料の抽出を行った。同じ資料を用いて二つの自然科学分析を行うことにより、織物のおおよその年代と獣毛の利用についての新たな知見を得られることになる。製作技術の発展とその背景にある他地域のとの関連も含めて、非常に興味深い研究視座である。作業の進め方については専門家と協議をし、来年度に分析を実施すること調整を行った。
