项目摘要

ヨーロッパ宗主国による植民地化過程と独立後に形成された制度の検証を目的に、旧仏領西アフリカの貨幣および金融制度の発展過程を植民地財政との関係から調査検証することが本研究の目的である。今年度は、まず、19世紀半ばにサブサハラアフリカ初の発券銀行として誕生したセネガル銀行の設立過程とそのオペレーション、そしてその評価についてまとめた論文を全米アフリカ学会の学術誌African Studies Reviewに査読付き単著論文として発表することができた。査読の過程で、論文の主旨がセネガルのメティス商人の銀行オペレーションと政治経済社会関係の方に重きを置くことになってしまったが、フランス政府がセネガルで植民地支配を行うにあたって現地で必要な現金（ローカルフラン）を財務省が発行する証券を用いてセネガル銀行から調達する過程を具体的に示した7月末には、パリで開かれたWorld Economic History Congressでフランスが内陸部侵攻するにあたり、現地の人への支払い手段としてもとめられる綿布や銀貨を調達する費用をフランス政府が負担していたこと、フランス政府財務省証券も、内陸部で貨幣として流通していたことを明らかにする論文を発表した。また、金沢大学の学内競争資金を用いて、モーリタニアでのギネ流通とフランスの植民地化との関係を明らかにする調査を開始し、その研究の一部に本科研費を用いた。上記の内容を含む日本語の論文を、岩波書店から刊行された『世界歴史　第18巻』の一章として発表した。海外調査として、フランス国立公文書館、ジロンド県立公文書館、ボルドーメトロポル公文書館、セネガル国立公文書館を訪問し、史料の収集を行った。
