レビー小体型認知症（DLB）とアルツハイマー型認知症（AD）は臨床症状に共通点が多く、臨床的に鑑別が困難であることが多い。そのため、認知症分野において、両疾患の的確な鑑別は重要な研究課題であり、心理検査にも高い期待が寄せられている。Mini Mental State Examination（MMSE）は、国内外で広く用いられている心理検査である。この検査の目的は合計得点による認知症のスクリーニングであるが、模写課題などDLBとADの鑑別に役立つ課題も多く含まれている。そこで本研究では、対象者が実際に示した検査結果を量的・質的に分析し、DLBの特徴を的確に評価するための新しい評価法を開発する。この評価法により、MMSEの被検査者は、検査を受けることによる負担は従来と変わらないまま、新たにDLBの可能性に関する情報が得られることになる。そのため、被検査者にとってのコストパフォーマンスという点でも、本研究の臨床的価値は高い。本研究の対象者は、認知症専門医により国際的な臨床診断基準でDLBないしADと診断された60歳以上の高齢者、および、健常高齢者である。実施する心理検査は、MMSEを全対象者に実施するほか、対象者の負担や臨床的な利益を考慮して可能な範囲で、WAIS-IV（III）、WMS-R、ベンダーゲシュタルトテスト（BGT）、他の神経心理検査、抑うつ評価などを実施する。独特な特徴を示す対象者には、主治医と相談の上、検査バッテリーを柔軟に検討していく。得られたデータは徐々に分析を進めてきたが、2022年度以降に分析をより本格化し、積極的に投稿していく。2020年度からシニアメンタルクリニック日本橋人形町の井関栄三院長や非常勤心理士と、2021年度からは昭和女子大学の増淵裕子専任講師、2022年度からは更に木村あやの准教授や大学院生を、当研究の研究協力者として研究を遂行している。
