今年度は、本研究においてキリスト教的ストア主義と仮説的に呼称している思潮を代表する思想家の一人デュ・ヴェールの『ストア派の道徳哲学』（1598年）について、日本語初訳の作成、ならびに内容の分析に傾注した。全訳は推敲中であり、本研究完了時までに発表予定である。内容については、以下のことを明らかにした。デュ・ヴェールは、エピクテトス『提要』をフランス語に訳しつつ、これは「美しいが不十分な作りの部品から成る」と述べているように、連続的なプランが欠如していると考えた。これを補うべく、『提要』から30以上の断片を集めて、それを新しい順番に並べ替えつつも（したがって、いわゆる「寄せ集め」「継ぎはぎ」と呼ばれる文学ジャンルに属す）、その思想をキリスト教に引き寄せて展開した、その限りで自身にオリジナルな、しかも当該主題に関する最初の本格的なフランス語による書物として『ストア派の道徳哲学』を執筆した。内容は以下の通りである。第一部では、ストア派の基本教義（最高善、徳、幸福、思慮、まっすぐな意志、情念）の紹介がなされる。第二部では、同意の統御について、エピクテトスに依拠した説明がなされる。第三部では、欲求の統御に関する考察、ならびに諸情念の一覧表が提示される。第四部では、「適切なこと」（キケロに依拠しつつ、キリスト教化された理解）の一覧表、集団の尊重、行為と会話における節度、不屈、思慮、希望、忍耐という徳について説明される。最終部では、ストア派的かつキリスト教的な霊的訓練が「良心の吟味」として提唱されると同時に、私たちの力だけでは不十分な浄化という企図を完成させ、かつ、これを永続的なものにする「神への祈り」が掲げられる。論考の全体は、基本教義の反復の印象が強いが、これは読者を説得するためと考えられる。キリスト教的ストア主義の具体像の解明のために、第四部と最終部の分析に多くの時間を割いた。
