本研究は、２０世紀にアメリカ合衆国が世界大国となっていく中で、米軍の兵力確保の問題と米国における高等教育普及とがどう関連したかを明らかにすることを目的としたものであった。令和２年度には、新型コロナウィルス感染拡大のため、予定していた史料調査旅行を全て中止せざるを得なくなるなど、大幅な研究計画変更を迫られた。しかし、海外への調査・学会渡航が叶わなかった代わりに、投稿論文と単著の原稿の執筆に集中的に取り組むことができたため、結果的に、令和元年度の投稿論文執筆の遅れを取り戻し、当初の研究計画を前倒しにして単著の原稿（初稿）を完成させることができた。令和３年度より、就実大学人文科学部総合歴史学科の専任講師として勤務することになったため、本科研課題は中途辞退することとなったが、この２年間で得ることができた歴史研究者としての貴重な経験を生かし、今後も研究活動に邁進する所存である。令和２年度の具体的な研究実績は、以下の３点にまとめられる。（１）執筆１：米国による第二次世界大戦後の日本占領期における青年層を巡る政策に関する英文投稿論文の執筆。本論文は、米国の外交史の主要雑誌であるDiplomatic Historyへの掲載が決定した。（２）執筆２：英文単著原稿執筆。本科研課題の集大成として、英文の単著原稿を完成させ、英語圏の大学出版会から出版されている米国社会と米軍との関係に関するモノグラフシリーズの編集者に提出した。（３）学会発表・アウトリーチ：第一次世界大戦期米国の青年従軍者の教育に関する研究報告を行う予定であったアメリカの歴史学会（American Historical Association）年次大会は、新型コロナウィルス感染拡大のため中止となったが、その代わりに同報告をオンラインで行った。セッションの様子は、現在、同学会のユーチューブチャンネルで一般公開されている。

(3) the Institute of Education for Youth and military personnel in the United States during the first World University. it is scheduled that the annual general meeting of the Association for the History of military Health (American Historical Association) will be held in the first year of the World University. the annual general meeting of the Society for the History of military Health (CAS) will be scheduled.
