本年度（2022年度）の後半からはコロナによる出張自粛の解除を受け、２年近く休止していた史料調査を再開した。しかし主要な調査対象地域の東京では、都立中央図書館は事前予約制の上で入館人数や利用時間を制限する措置が取られた（2023年５月時点では解除されている）。こうした措置は他の資料保管機関でも同様であった。調査環境がコロナ前の状態に十全に復旧したわけではなく、その影響で史料採集は予定通りには終了していない。そのため、むしろ目を転じて他地域の図書館や文書館に出向いて調査するよりも、すでに大学の図書館に納められている文献や、一応の整理が済んでいながらも細部が未了の原史料のデータ整理と再分析を進めた。まず三井物産に関しては、従業員の回顧録などを通じて戦前期の社内状況の把握を試み、過去とは異なる視点から史料を読み直した結果、想定していなかった事態が社内で発生していた史実を発見し、論文として未発表のため詳しい内容は伏せるが、重要かつ新しい知見を得た。兼松については男性従業員約600名の職務履歴［入店年月と年齢、勤務年数、各年の給与、職位、異動、退職年齢など］はすでに整理が終わっているものの、未完了であった倉庫員などの雑員や女性従業員の職務履歴を整理し、雑員が起こした内部不祥事の実態の理解を深めた。現時点までに、投機取引で経営破綻した古河商事の「大連事件」、戦前期の三井物産を題材に従業員の学歴と不祥事の発生頻度の関連性を明らかにした長期時系列データの作成のほか、不況期に鈴木商店や茂木など経営破綻した商社と、生き残った商社の違いが大戦景気を受けた人員の急増（あるいは抑制）という人事政策にあり、またそれは内部統制の弛緩や不祥事の発生原因になっていたことを指摘する論考を発表できた。
