当該年度は2023年5月までコロナ禍のため、縦断的研究の本調査まで至らなかった。そのため、研究実施計画を調整し、研究協力園および研究協力学校において、食育プログラムの開発とスタートカリキュラムの調査を実施した。食育プログラムに重点をおいたスタートカリキュラムは、子どもが生活習慣を身に付ける縦断的な育成を目指すものである。具体的な内容として、(1)絵本やペープサート、エプロンシアター等を活用し、幼児や児童向けに日常の生活習慣や食前教育についてのプログラムの開発、(2)保幼小接続期の円滑な接続を指導計画に取り入れ、スタートカリキュラムの実践の運用、(3)「幼児期の終わりまでに育ってほしい姿」や「10の姿」が幼児期に到達すべき目標を手掛かりに幼稚園と小学校が子どもの姿を共有した。本研究の独自性として、現在、スタートカリキュラムは自治体によって様々な提案があるが、コロナ禍の時期を挟み、今だに広く浸透されずに試行錯誤の段階といえる。このようなことから、本研究の実証調査の研究の必要性が求められる。当該年度のスタートカリキュラムの調査において、保育士・幼稚園教諭や小学校教諭が連携し、小学校教育との円滑な接続を図ることが必要である。このように段差のない教育を行うことで子どもの心身の健康面や心理面の効果や影響を科学的に検証することが重要である。次年度はコロナ禍も明けて、食育教育の口腔周囲筋トレーニングを用いた口づくりを研究協力園に本調査を実施する予定である。
