项目摘要

本研究では、地域のアイデンティティを反映したデザイン事象を「バナキュラーデザイン」と仮称し、沖縄地方の社会課題に起因する包括的なデザイン行為の分析から、社会的技術としてのデザインプロセスの経緯と役割を明らかにすることを目的としている。社会課題に起因する「バナキュラーデザイン」に作用する要因を以下の3区分に整理し、調査分析を進めている。A：生活・コミュニティ要因（自由経済下での生活基盤の確保・補完・維持に関連する事象）　B：社会・経済要因（不利、限定的な状況からの事業・雇用・就労創出に関連する事象）　C：歴史・文化要因（地域特性や文化の形象、保有技術の展開に関連する事象）研究初年度より、首里城火災、新型コロナウイルス感染症等の影響により現地調査は中止や縮小を余儀なくされ、2022年度も対物調査を中心として高齢者への対人調査は最小限に控え、沖縄以外での関連事例調査を実施した。Aの事例は、共同売店の近年の類似事例であり、買い物難民対策を住民自らが取り組んできた地域商店（コミュニティショップ）」の先駆け的存在として、京丹後市の「つねよし百貨店」が前身である農業生産法人・有限会社「常吉村営百貨店」から個人商店として再出発した経緯、取り組みの詳細を確認した。Bの事例は、沖縄の6次産業および小規模フェアトレードの比較事例として、大阪のコーヒー専門商社で業界におけるフェアトレードの現状と課題、今後の展望について調査を行った。Cの事例は、沖縄を代表する工芸品の織物の比較対象として、自然布（古代布）の丹後藤織りの保存活動の現地調査を実施した。これまでの研究から沖縄の「八重山上布」に関しては、学会論文が採択された。戦後の壁面への「直描き」看板の原点となる飲料メーカーのステンシルや占領期の写真の収集、文献調査を実施した。研究期間を延長し、沖縄での現地調査の再開に向けて基盤を整えた。
