项目摘要

研究計画四年目にあたる令和４年度は、昨年度作成したデータベースをもとに、「場所・場面の設定」とりわけ「東アジア」をテーマとする楽曲に対象を絞り込んで研究を遂行した。映画の舞台設定が特定の国や地域である場合、どこの場所・場面であるかを表象することは、映画音楽の重要な機能の一つである。実際、当時の映画音楽伴奏譜集の多くが、特定の国や地域名のインデックスを付した楽曲を含んでいる。今年度は、主にアメリカで出版・編纂された伴奏譜に収録された「東アジア」に関する全楽曲のデータベースを抽出し、楽譜分析ソフトウェア「Humdrum Toolkit」を用いて、音階の構造、リズム、音型の観点から共通するパターンを分析した。その結果、音階の構造としては、ペンタトニックスケールの中でも西洋音楽のハーモナイズに対応しやすい構成音が選ばれる傾向が強いこと、三味線や箏の奏法を模す特定のリズムの音型の使用が顕著であることが明らかとなった。さらに、当時のアメリカにおけるジャポニズムや日本音楽受容の背景、言説資料をもとに分析結果の考察を行い、ニューヨーク大学が主催する映像音楽に関する国際学会MaMI2022にて口頭発表を行った。また、発表内容をもとに作成した論文が、University of Illinois Pressより刊行される『Music and the Moving Image』第16巻第2号に掲載予定である。なお、海外渡航の規制が緩和された為、2023年2月には、2年間延期していたスタンフォード大学CCARHでの調査も実施した。当初の計画では、本年度が本研究計画における最終年度であったが、ようやく実現した海外調査で得た知見を踏まえた発展的な分析・研究遂行のため、研究期間を延長することとした。
