当該研究課題を開始して以来、所与の関数形の証券・契約のみで入札させるという制約がない状況にオークションモデルを拡張し、売り手があらゆる関数形の証券・契約の中から自由に選べる状況で、売り手がどのような買い手の参入水準を設け、どうのような証券・契約を用いることが望ましいのかを明らかにすべく研究を行ってきた。このオークションモデルの理論の主要な応用先はM&Aなどが挙げられる。当該研究課題期間の４年のうち、まだ開始から半年しか経っておらず、研究計画を作成時に期待していた結果をまだ得られていないものの、以下の進展があった。これまで、より「低い」評価額をもっていそうな買い手を優遇するようなオークションメカニズムを設定することでオークションの期待収入を高めることができることが知られていたが、参入費用がかかる場合、従来とは逆に、より「高い」評価額をもっていそうな買い手を優遇するようなオークションメカニズムを設定することで、低い評価額を持っている買い手が参入費用を無駄に払う頻度を下げることができ効率性が高まるため、オークションの期待収入が高まることを示した。研究計画を作成時にもう1 つの拡張として、落札後に契約不可能な投資の意思決定機会を落札者が有する状況において、落札後に適切な投資水準を引き出し、オークション全体の収益を最大にするようなオークションの仕組みを分析する予定であった。しかしながら、この応用に関しては、いまだに主だった成果を得られていない。
