The different coating properties and their residual stresses are investigated in TP C2 in order to ensure the necessary quality characteristics of the coated forming tools. In particular, the high wear resistance of HVOF WC-12Co coatings requires the development of an effective wear test device. Important characteristics for the quality and life time of the coatings are modelled based on the properties and residual stress of coatings on forming tools. Additionally, these coating property values are needed for optimization of manufacturing parameters as well as for simulation.
