政治的なエモーショナリズムの台頭の中で今日、人々が批判的に思考し有意味な政治的自己表明をなすことが困難になっている。他方、移民や宗教対立をめぐる排斥的な態度が支配する中、境界で生きる人々や流動的なアイデンティティをもつ人々の声は抑圧される。これは安定を脅かす不均衡への心理的恐れや、包摂への実存的不安に由来する政治的危機であり、思考と判断の枯渇状態、声の喪失、他者への想像力の貧困状態をもたらす教育の危機である。不均衡をもたらす他なるものとの共存を可能にする公正なスペースの創造は民主主義と教育にとって喫緊の課題である。本研究プロジェクトは、日本が先導し欧州三国をつなぐ国際連携を通じ、アメリカ実践哲学のグローバルな意義を解明する。教育と哲学を軸にした学際対話を通じて、不均衡の視座から調和・統合に依拠した公正概念を再考し、多元的な民主主義の実現に向けた代替的な政治教育「挑戦的インクルージョン」の実践的意義を提示する。今年度は、ヘルシンキ大学、UCL教育研究所、パリ第一大学との国際交流事業として、オンラインでの国際会議を開催した。また、ミラノ大学やスイス工科大学に招聘され、アメリカ哲学に関わる講演を対面で行った。ロンドンで開催されたヨーロッパプラグマティズム学会の大会で、フィンランド、スウェーデン、アメリカの研究者とのパネル発表を行った。さらにパリ第一大学における国際会議においても発表を行った。
