项目摘要

本課題は、17～19世紀初頭に大衆出版を軸に形成される新たな政治文化を長期的に把握する基課題を土台としつつ、これに17世紀の大衆出版物にあらわれる民衆と法、およびモノとしての印刷物という観点を導入して、法や政治に対する民衆の態度をその具体相から総合的に検討するものである。本年度は新型コロナウィルス感染症流行による影響が軽減し、3年ぶりにイギリスでの在外研究を実現した。滞在中の史資料収集および在英研究者との意見交換をもとにブリテン諸島の「長い革命」における公共圏の形成と民衆の政治国民化に関する長期的な展望をまとめた（『岩波講座世界歴史　第15巻　主権国家と革命』（2023年3月刊）所収論文）。2023年1月には、基盤研究B「公論と暴力－革命の比較研究」（代表：三谷博／東洋文庫）との共催で国際シンポジウムを開催した。同会合は日本を含め5カ国から17名の研究者が登壇し、対面（東京大学）およびZoomのハイブリッド方式にて開催され、活発な意見交換が行われた。そこではアイルランドの例に注目しつつ複合国家ブリテンを構成する諸地域における暴力と公論の展開の非均質性を明らかにする報告を日英両語で行ったが、目下この成果をもとにした英語論集の刊行にむけて原稿を準備中である。本課題は上記のように一定の成果を得て、本年度が最終年度となるはずだったが、上記会合に合わせて本科研によりイギリスから招へいを予定していた研究者の来日が急遽中止となったことなどから、やむを得ず研究期間の延長を申請した。2023年度には在英研究者との十分な意見交換をへて、最終的な成果をまとめることをめざしたい。

This topic is based on the formation of a new political culture from the 17th century to the early 19th century. It is a basic topic for the long-term grasp of popular publications from the 17th century to the early 19th century. This year, the impact of the epidemic of new infections has decreased, and three years of external research has been carried out. The collection of historical data in the Middle East and the exchange of views between researchers in the United Kingdom on the formation of the public sphere and the political nationalization of the people (paper included in "Iwawa Lecture World History, Volume 15, Main National Revolution"(March 2023)) January 2023: Basic Research B "Public Opinion and Violence-Comparative Research on Revolution"(Representative: Mitani Hiroshi/Toyo Library) and International Cooperation and Development 17 researchers from Japan, including 5 countries, participated in the forum and exchanged views with each other (University of Tokyo). For example, in preparation for publication of the manuscript, the author of the report on violence and heterogeneity of public opinion in Japan and the English language. This project has been completed in the last year, and the project will be completed in the next year. In 2023, the researchers in the UK exchanged opinions and the final results were published.
