英文摘要
The scientific aim of this research project is to numerically model turbulent spark ignition mechanisms of gasoline surrogates (i.e. iso-octane, n-heptane, toluene). The focus is on fuel-lean, high pressure, high temperature conditions as relevant to spark ignition (SI) engine operation conditions, and on spark energies near the minimum ignition energy (MIE), in near-isotropic turbulence over a wide range of values of turbulence intensity and laminar burning velocity. The resulting knowledge will help understanding the slow burning, misfire, and partial burn cycles frequently observed in SI engines operated at fuel-lean conditions. The project will be based on a hierarchical modeling concept with different ingredients: detailed numerical simulations, a reduction methodology for the complexity of the chemical kinetics, and a statistical approach for the turbulence-chemistry interaction. This proposal is imbedded in the call for joint projects (MOST-DFG Joint Research Projects). The Taiwanese partner (Prof. S. Shy, National Central University) will perform experimental investigations of the ignition of gasoline surrogates.
